My name is Robert van den Berg. I am an independent IT consultant, with over 15 years of IT experience. Starting as system engineer in 1999, I was introduced to a wide variety of hardware and software, among which SQL Server (at that time: version 7.0). I found that I liked working with databases; both the complexity of the technology and the relevance of data to the business processes appealed to me, and still does. That’s why I decided to specialize in SQL Server. Since then, I’ve held a number of database related roles: consultant, engineer, architect and database administrator. In 2006 I started working for myself as an independent IT consultant.
I believe it is important to combine both practical and theoretical knowledge. For that, I am continuously learning new and exciting stuff. In the process, I’ve earned the title of MCDBA for SQL 7 and 2000, and MCITP for SQL 2005 and 2008 (amongst others), and have a Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology. On a personal note: I like black coffee, black metal, black & tan dogs, and black humor. And my favorite color is red.
